Yesterday was a long day (technically two days) of travel, but an amazing one! My first flight from Kansas City to San Francisco was about 4 hours and then our group had a very quick layover to get to the international terminal to board the plane to Seoul for our 12 hour flight. The plane to Seoul (a 747 aircraft) was the biggest airplane I have ever seen! I was thoroughly impressed with the food they served on the airplane and I couldn't drink enough Korean green tea during the flight. After we landed a limousine taxi drove us to our hostel in Seoul and the views were breathtaking. The terrain in Korea is gorgeous (mountains, water, city skyline, and everything is so green)!! Once we arrived at our hostel we set our stuff down and quickly went out to dinner at a Korean barbeque restaurant as a group (I am going to like the food here)! Even though we had technically not slept for 2 days we were all too anxious to explore. We caught a subway to an outdoor shopping center that is open late and experienced their coffee shops (I am obsessed with their green tea), tried their street food (yes, that is an entire fried squid and it was delicious), and went into some of the shops (they have tons of cute beauty stores)! We caught the subway back before it closed and after getting lost a few times we made it back to our hostel to call it a night! Today we are starting our day with a discussion on the strategies to use when teaching English as a foreign language and then we are exploring two major historical sights in Seoul. After that our group is free to explore where we want. I am excited to see what adventures today brings!
The following artifact consists of my self-reflections throughout the various experiences here in South Korea. The most effective way for me to personally share my experiences and growth are through personal journals and pictures. This photo journal was important in documenting my study abroad adventures inside and outside the classroom.
Two of my passions in one: traveling and photography.
